Lar National Park has been of interest since the past years due to its special characteristics and rich plant and animal communities. The average rainfall of this region is 760 mm, the minimum absolute temperature is -30 and the maximum absolute temperature is 34.5 degrees Celsius, and its climate is humid. This range is located at altitudes above 2400 to 4100 meters. The frequency of the dominant slope is in the range of 30 to 65 percent. The main river of this basin is the Lar River, which is one of the main branches of the Haraz River. Species such as Astragalus ochroleucus and Astragalus microcephalus are present in all parts of this range. A total of 28 mammal species, 105 bird species, 23 reptile species, and 2 amphibian species have been identified in this park, which is one of the most prominent summer habitats of wildlife species and breeding ground for red spotted trout. This area does not have permanent residential areas, and there are no urban or rural areas in its periphery and sanctuary, but nearly 60 nomadic settlements in about 20 customary systems use this area as summer pastures in a period of one hundred days. Lar National Park consists of 4 zones with the titles of Strict Nature zone, Protected zone, Extensive Use zone and restoration zone.
