In recent years, air pollution in Iran has increased and remains in place despite the implementation of policies such as school closures and traffic restrictions. This study has tried to reveal the importance of this issue by examining the types of pollutants and their impact on human health by reviewing related articles in the world and Iran. This study wants to continue by examining the causes of pollution in three major cities to determine which sections should be planned for and review the existing laws in this field at the end of the article is in the same direction. The main air pollutants that have the greatest impact on health are particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and ozone, which various studies have shown their negative impacts on human health for example damaging various tissues of the body especially the heart and lungs. The main causes of air pollution in Tehran and Isfahan are mainly due to mobile sources meaning vehicles, but in Ahvaz, industry and especially the oil industry, ie fixed sources, play a major role in air pollution. In Iran, the constitution, parliamentary resolutions, the High Environmental Council, development plans, and several laws and regulations address the issue of air pollution. Iran is also a member of four international conventions in this field. Given the differences in pollution sources in different cities and the different effects they can have, it would be good that in each region, the implementation of laws related to major sources of pollution in that region is a priority.
