Abstract

To measure the extent to which countries are achieving sustainable development, 17 interrelated goals have been defined. The fifth goal is to Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. In this study, the interrelationships of this issue with biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services were examined, which themselves include several macro goals. Iran ranks 148th out of 153 countries in the 2020 Global Gender Gap Index report, compiled by the World Economic Forum, and so that this study aims to learn about the potential effects of this deep gender gap on the environment.
The result of this study is that; Men and women have different specialized knowledge of the species, ecosystems and environment around them, and to create a sustainable and effective system, we need to include the views and knowledge of all people, regardless of gender. In protected areas, the impact of women is often not visible, and their access to natural resources in protected areas is often informal and for domestic use, which is why women's exploitation is undocumented and ignored. The allocation of financial resources for sustainable development is basically regardless of gender, but there is a fact that there is no equal access to resources and services for both sexes, and it causes men to benefit more from these allocations. The effects of gender inequality on the environment can be attributed to its effects on pollution due to lack of equal access to organic and inorganic institutions, lack of participation of women in invasive species control programs that weaken the program, increase the risk of species extinction To mention because of the unsustainable management and not considering a part of society.
