Abstract

Waste and human food waste are important not only from a moral point of view and meeting the needs of the poor and hungry, but also from various environmental aspects. One of the new issues is the availability of food waste for wildlife. Wildlife may only occasionally use food waste, or it may even be completely dependent on it. The effects of food waste on wildlife include, for example, changes in population density, changes in species and population distribution, changes in range, changes in community interactions, and changes in ecosystem function, as well as the multifaceted effects of food supply on parasite-host dynamics. This article examines the direct and indirect effects of food waste on wildlife species, as well as how this exacerbates human-wildlife conflicts. The other section deals with the effects of reducing and eliminating food waste on wildlife. In general, based on this study, it can be said that it is necessary to pay more attention to food waste and its effects from an environmental point of view, and in addition, there is a need to change the attitude and management of food waste.
