Abstract

Iran, with an area of approximately 1.6 million square kilometers, has provided a suitable environment for the presence of migratory birds due to the diversity of habitats consisting of three bioregions: Oriental, Palearctic, and Ethiopic. This biodiversity has made Iran a focal point for the identification of 551 bird species as of 2015, of which the Terpsiphone paradise is one of them. This study aimed to analyze the observations of the Terpsiphone paradise, a migratory bird species in Iran. Data were collected from the eBird birdwatching databases and the Iranian Bird Registration Committee, using relevant keywords such as " Terpsiphone paradise " and "distribution". The data were sorted by year, season, location, and bird species, and incorrect or duplicate information was removed. The analyses were performed using ArcGIS (version 10.8) software to draw distribution maps and Excel (version 2013) to prepare column and pie charts. The findings showed that this species was mainly observed in the southern regions of Iran, especially Mellat Minab Park, and the reports were concentrated in the cold seasons. It is suggested that continuous monitoring should be continued to better understand the migratory behavior of this species.
